About & methodology

EVTcalc lets you enter a patient's clinical and CT/CTA findings once and see, at a glance, which landmark mechanical-thrombectomy trials that patient would have qualified for. It covers the early-window trials (MR CLEAN, ESCAPE, SWIFT PRIME, EXTEND-IA, REVASCAT), the extended-window trials (DEFUSE-3, DAWN), the large-core trials (RESCUE-Japan LIMIT, SELECT2, ANGEL-ASPECT), and the posterior-circulation trials (ATTENTION, BAOCHE).

Each trial is evaluated criterion by criterion against its published inclusion/exclusion rules. Every criterion resolves to pass, fail, or missing, and the trial verdict follows from those: Not eligible if any criterion fails, Insufficient data if nothing fails but a needed value is missing, and Meets criteria only when every criterion passes. To reduce clutter, trials the patient doesn't qualify for collapse to a one-line row showing the disqualifying reason; click any row to expand its full checklist.

Criteria are simplified in places, and those simplifications are noted on the individual trial cards (for example, this tool assumes CT/CTA-based selection, so RESCUE-Japan LIMIT's MRI-dependent late window is not scored). Perfusion fields are optional — trials that genuinely need a core volume show "insufficient data" rather than a false verdict when perfusion is left blank. Always verify against the primary publication linked on each card before acting.
